Green chilies. chopped |

Ginger, finely chopped |

Fresh coriander leaves, finely chopped |

Curry leaves |

Whole dried red chilies |

Onions, finely chopped |

Coconut, grated |

| Method |
Wash rice and all dals well, and let it soak for atleast 3 hours.
Blend in together green chilies, coriander leaves, curry leaves, ginger and dried red chilies to a smooth paste, set aside.
Grind rice and dals to a smooth batter, let it rest for at least 1 hour.
Now combine rice and dal batter, paste, onion, asafoetida and coconut and mix well.
Heat griddle (or tava) over medium-high heat, grease it with oil, now add ladle full of batter and spread immediately to a circle and cook until brown, turn it and cook on other side until crisp and golden-brown.
