Basmati rice |

Oil or ghee |
1 + 1/2 tablespoons |
| Method |

Wash rice well, drain and set aside. Heat oil or ghee in a pan, add cumin
seeds, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom and bay leaf and let them splutter. Now
add onions and fry until brown. Add rice and fry for 3 minutes until toasted.
Now add 3 cups of water and salt, stir, bring to a boil, cover and cook over
low heat, until all the water is absorbed, turn off the heat, and let it rest
covered for 10 minutes. Serve.
