Ingredients
1 Basmati rice 2 cups
2 Cumin seeds (jeera) 1 teaspoon
3 Bay leaf 1
4 Cinnamon 1 small stick
5 Salt to taste
6 Ghee or oil 2 tablespoons
Method
Heat oil or ghee in a pan, add cumin seeds, bay leaf and cinnamon and let them splutter, now add rice and toast for 4-5 minutes. now add 4 cups of water and salt, bring to a boil, cover and cook over low heat until done. Let it cool and serve.
Servings - 3-4
Introduction of the dish
Cumin powder is widely used in Greek and Mexican cooking. It is so fragrant and smoky and adds a unique flavor to the dish.
