Fennel seeds, coarsely powdered |

Amchoor powder |

Turmeric powder |
2 teaspoons |

Onion seeds (kalaunji) |
1 teaspoon |

Mustard oil |
1 + 1/2 cups |
| Method |
Peel the upper layer of onions, slit into four, keeping intact at the base.
Combine salt, amchoor powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt, onion seeds, fennel powder, mustard powder together with 1/2 cup of oil. Stuff each onion with this spice mixture and transfer to the sterilized jar. Pour rest of the oil over the onions and allow the jar to remain in sunlight for 8-10 days, by occasionally shaking the jar.
