Ingredients
1 Fish , cut into large pieces 500 grams
2 Onions, finely chopped 3
3 Ginger, finely chopped 1 teaspoon
4 Garlic, finely chopped 10 cloves
5 Black pepper powder 1 teaspoon
6 Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon
7 Curry leaves 10
8 Ceylon curry powder 1 + 1/2 tablespoons
9 Tamarind liquid 1/4 cup
10 Fenugreek seeds 1/2 teaspoon
11 Coconut milk 2 cups
12 Oil for frying
13 Cinnamon 1 stick
14 Salt 1 teaspoon
Method
In a bowl add pepper, turmeric and salt, mix it and rub it well on washed fish. Heat oil in a pan, fry fish to golden brown, drain on paper and set aside.
Heat 2 tablespoon of oil in a pan, now add ginger , garlic ,onion and fenugreek seeds and fry for 5 minutes until brown. Now add curry powder, cinnamon, and curry leaves and stir, now add tamarind liquid and coconut milk stir and simmer until thickens .Pour over fried fish and serve.

This is a Bengali fish curry recipe.Fenugreek seeds, also known as methi dana is warm by nature; and it gives some depth of flavor.
