Chana dal |

Lauki, peeled and cut into small pieces |

Coriander powder |
1/2 teaspoon |

Oil or ghee |

Fresh coriander leaves, finely chopped |

| Method |
|
Wash chana dal well and soak in water for at least 20 minutes, drain and
pour into the pressure cooker together with lauki, salt, coriander powder,
turmeric powder and 4 cups of water, cover and pressure cook for 2
whistles. Turn off the flame and let it open.
Heat oil or ghee in a pan over medium-high heat, add cumin seeds and
heeng and let it splutter. Now add chopped onions and cook until lightly
browned, add tomatoes, stir, cover and cook over low heat until tender.
Pour this tadka over the dal, stir, garnish it with butter and chopped
coriander and serve.
