Urad-Palak Dal

Ingredients
1 Green urad dal 1 cup
2 Spinach, washed & finely chopped 2 cups
3 Onion, finely chopped 1
4 Ginger, finely chopped 1 teaspoon
5 Garlic, finely chopped 5 cloves
6 Cumin seeds 1/2 teaspoon
7 Asafetida a pinch
8 Whole dried red chilies 2
9 Green chilies, finely chopped 4
10 Oil or ghee 2 tablespoons
11 Salt to taste
Method
Wash urad dal well, transfer to the pressure cooker with spinach, salt and water, cover and cook for 3 whistles. Let it open. Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat, add cumin seeds and dried red chilies and let it splutter, now add onions, garlic, ginger, green chilies and asfoetida and cook until lightly browned. Pour this tadka into dal, stir. Add more ghee or butter if you like, stir and serve.

Introduction of the dish
There are two types of urad dal; dhuli and green, besides you can use any other dal you like, such as- moong dal or arhar dal.
