Tomato Dal

Ingredients
1 Toor dal (arhar dal) 1 cup
2 Tomatoes, finely chopped 4
3 Green chilies, finely chopped 4-5
4 Asafetida a pinch
5 Cumin seeds 1/2 teaspoon
6 Curry leaves 6-8
7 Salt to taste
8 Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon
9 Oil 2 tablespoons
10 Mustard seeds 1/2 teaspoon
Method
Wash dal well, transfer it to the pressure cooker with turmeric powder, salt and 5 cups of water and pressure cook for 2-3 whistles. Turn off the heat and let it open.
Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat, add cumin seeds, mustard seeds,asafetida and curry leaves and let it splutter, now add tomatoes and red chili powder, stir and cook over medium heat until tomatoes becomes tender. Now add dal, stir and serve.
