| Method |
|
Wash dal well, put it in a pressure cooker with turmeric powder and salt and
pressure cook for 2 whistles and let it opens on its own.
Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, whole red chilies and curry
leaves and let it splutter. Now add tomatoes, red chili powder, tamarind pulp
and sugar and cook until tomatoes becomes tender and oil comes out on the
surface. Now add dal, stir and bring to a boil, garnish with chopped
coriander leaves and serve.

This is a Gujrati version of tuar dal. It is sweet, tangy and
