Clarified butter [ghee] or oil |

Fresh coriander leaves, finely chopped |

| Method |
|
Wash and soak the chana dal in water for 2 hours. Transfer to the pressure
cooker, add 5 cups of water, salt and turmeric powder and cook for 3 whistles
. Let it open.
Heat oil or ghee in a pan over medium heat, add cumin seeds and whole red
chilies and let it splutter, now add ginger, garlic and onion and saute until
light brown. Now add green chilies, red chili powder, coriander powder and 1/2
cup of water and cook until oil comes out. Now add dal, stir and cook for 3
more minutes. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve.
