Ingredients
For vada-
1 Urad dal 1 + 1/2 cups
2 Moong dal 1/4 cup
3 Raisins 2 tablespoons
4 Chironji 2 tablespoons
5 Ginger, grated 1 tablespoon
6 Green chilies, finely chopped 4
7 Fresh coriander leaves, finely chopped 1 tablespoon
Other ingredients-
8 Curd, beaten 500 grams
9 Sweet mango chutney 1 cup
10 Roasted cumin powder 1 tablespoon
11 Red chili powder 1 tablespoon
12 Salt to taste
13 Oil for frying
Method
Soak both the dals overnight, drain it, blend it together with minimum possible water added to it. Set aside for at least 6 hours.
In a bowl, combine together, raisins, chironnji, chilies, ginger and chopped coriander leaves. This is the stuffing for vada.
Now take small amount of dal mixture, about the size of small ball, wet your hands a bit, spread dal mixture in your hands like puri, add 1/2 teaspoon of raisin stuffing, fold it half way like gujhia, to cover the stuffing. Repeat this process with all the dal and stuffing. Deep fry them in hot oil over medium- low heat and fry them until golden-brown.
Before serving, soak vadas in hot water with 1/2 teaspoon of salt until tender. Drain it and press them individually to remove water. Place in a plate, pour curd over it, then mango chutney, cumin powder, red chili powder and salt to taste and serve.

Introduction of the dish
This is more often made during festival time, like holi and Diwali.It is like dal fritters dipped in curd. Enjoy.
